Renuka Singh Thakur is an Indian woman cricketer who plays cricket for Himachal Pradesh at the domestic level and for India at the international level. Singh, a cricketer who plays with his right hand, was born on February 1st, 1996. She bowls at a medium tempo with his right arm.
Renuka Singh Career
Renuka Singh Thakur’s cricket career officially began in 2009 after she enrolled at the women’s residential academy of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association. In a government college in Shimla, Bhupendra Singh, Renuka’s uncle, teaches physical education. He suggested Renuka play cricket in her early days. Her outstanding performance in regional games allowed her to serve as the trained team of Himachal Pradesh’s U-16 and U-19 team captain.
She recorded the most wickets taken in the 2019–20 Senior Women’s One Day League with 23 dismissals. As part of India’s series against Australia in August 2021, Singh was given her first call-up to the Indian women’s cricket team. She participated in India’s opening World Twenty20 International match against Australia on October 7, 2021.
She was part of India’s team for the New Zealand Women’s Cricket World Cup in January 2022. On February 18, 2022, she played for India against New Zealand in her first Women’s One Day International (WODI).
In July 2022, in Birmingham, England, for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, she participated in the cricket tournament for India. She was the tournament’s top wicket-taker and helped her team earn a silver medal.
Renuka Singh Personal life
On February 1, 1996, Renuka Singh Thakur was born in Parsa’s Indian Himachal Pradesh village, close to Shimla. Renuka Thakur completed high school at the G.S.S. School in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. She completed her higher secondary education at Kangra, Himachal Pradesh’s DAV public school, and her undergraduate studies at Guru Nanak Dev University. Later, she finished her further education at Government College Dharmashala and Khalsa College in Amritsar.
The 26-year-old, Renuka is not currently married and hasn’t made her relationship status on any social media platforms. In 1999, Renuka Singh’s father, Kehar Singh Thakur died when she was three years old. After her father passed away, her mother, Sunita took all responsibility as a class IV employee at the Himachal Pradesh irrigation and public health department in Rohru.
In a conversation with the media, Renuka stated that her father was a huge fan of cricket and named her elder brother after Vinod Kambli, one of his favourite players.
