Post-Pregnancy/Postpartum Common Health Issues: Every, one in three women have postpartum problems in the first three months after giving birth. Many women regain their pre-pregnancy position after delivery, whether by natural birth or by caesarean section. However, its symptoms vary from woman to woman. But, most women face these common health problems after pregnancy which are as follows.

Vaginal Discharge

The most prevalent cause of mother life in delivery is postpartum haemorrhage. Women have vaginal discharge immediately after delivery, which is known as lochia. It is one of the most common health issues, among others. This is comprised of uterine blood and tissue and can last for up to six weeks.

Pain in the perineum

The perineum- the area of skin and muscle between the vaginal entrance and the anus can cause pain. If your baby was born through C-section, you may have pain at the incision site.

Engorgement of the Breasts

Breast milk increases post-pregnancy which makes you feel pain, tenderness and discomfort in the breast. This stage is called breast engorgement. Engorged breasts can be soothed by using heated towels or cold packs. Some women may also have to deal with Breast and breastfeeding problems including swollen breasts, mastitis, and clogged milk ducts.

Nipples soreness

Because of the constant flow of milk, breastfeeding causes nipple soreness. This is a relatively post-pregnancy health issue but goes away within a few days of birth.

Depression

A woman’s body endures multiple hormonal changes after the birth of a child. They have a direct influence on a woman’s behaviour and can lead to depression. When a woman is unable to sleep well at night, due to sleep deprivation and tiredness, postpartum depression can occur. Apart from that, many women experience stress, and mood disorder as a result of their weakness or the fact that their bodies are not the same as they were before pregnancy.

Hair loss, pain or discomfort during sex, stretch marks, and other post-pregnancy concerns are some of the most typical ones. Moreover, constipation, incontinence in the urine, and leakage in the bowels are all digestive and colorectal issues.

Uterus Infection

Placental fragments can sometimes be found in the uterus. Increased heart rate, slight fever, uterine swelling, and even significant lower abdominal discomfort and uterine discharge are common symptoms of Uterus Infection.

Most of the health problems are mild and may be treated at home. But, if you have any of the following symptoms, it could be a sign of postpartum infection

  • A red, swollen, or pus-filled C-section incision,
  • Painful and hot-to-touch breasts
  • Burning or pain when urinating
  • A very high fever over 100 degrees, chills, fatigue, headache, nausea, or vomiting
  • Swelling or soreness in your lower abdomen and legs
