Indian railways to start operation of passenger trains from New Delhi to cities like Patna, Ranchi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Bilaspur, Dibrugarh from Tuesday 12th May 2020. The online booking on these trains will start from May 11 at 4 pm only on the official website of IRCTC.
Due to the spread of coronavirus in India IRCTC had suspended all their train operations from 24th March 2020 after PM Modi declares the 21 days nationwide lockdown till 14th April 2020. But this lockdown has been further extended twice the first extension was 15th April to 3rd May and then 4th may to 17th May, which is currently going on.
IRCTC management has decided to operate the special train from New Delhi in the mid of 3rd phase of lockdown in India. In a press release, Indian railways stated that special trains will run from New Delhi station connecting to Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.
To travel in these trains all the passengers have to follow some etiquettes. It will be mandatory for the passengers to wear masks and undergo screening before entering the platform and only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board the trains. Passengers who have the confirmed ticket only will be allowed to board the train there will be no waitlist on these train and ticket fare will be dynamic.
