Delhi Smog Reason, Govt Action & Safety Tips

The current majority of evaluation sources are hinting towards colder weather, stagnant winds trapping the various reason of smog. The main reason of smog are stubble burning, road dust, lit garbage, power plants, factories, and vehicles. Air quality can be measured by the amount of PM 2.5 and PM 10 particulates suspended in air.

Delhi Govt. Actions

The air quality in Delhi stayed ‘critical’ for another day. CM Arvind Kejriwal has meeting on the execution of the odd-even plan. The Delhi govt has cut back odd-even plan to check rising pollution level in the capital. It will be applied from November 13th and will end on Nov 17. Request Delhi folks to work at home whenever possible.

Delhi and Punjab govt authorities also announced complete closing of schools till Sunday following climate predictions that scenario is unlikely to increase soon very dense fog expected to cover many places in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and northern Rajasthan in the morning hours Nov 10.

Safety Tips

Go Green- Try to make your home a little greener. Bring home natural air purifiers like Aloe Vera and Spider Plant which suck up all the pollutants. The plants will not only help with the air quality but will also help as a mind refresher.

Stay Hydrated- keeping the body hydrated and drinking plenty of water than usual during this time. People can also consume vegetable and fruit juices.

Get The Right Mask- Avoid surgical and comfort masks as they don’t provide sufficient respiratory protection to the wearer. Presently, Delhi’s air has increased levels of a particulate issue -PM2.5 – particles smaller than 2.5 micrometres thus, get a respirator that is NIOSH Approved that filters out more than 95% of particles.

Avoid Outdoor Exercise-Avoid outdoor exercise at least until levels drop below the prescribed limit. Even allergic cough and breathing problems in small children can be averted by spending the evening indoors.

Don’t Compromise On Fitness- Since you cannot go jogging outdoors or even do yoga in the park, some exercise at home will work just fine. This will help you not feel lethargic in the pollution and stay healthy.
