The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation has launched new scheme” book now pay later” for current reservation (tatkal ticket) delivery of rail tickets allowing passengers to make payment through any payment mode, including cash.
Broad-basing the customer services, IRCTC has now presented pay-on-delivery support allowing travelers to book tickets online and pay at the time of delivery.
IRCTC via the online portal and mobile app has now offered pay-on-delivery as one of the transaction alternatives for its users, said a Sen.

Till now, this particular service was available only for general reservations. For current (tatkal) booking people had to pay the first standard the online payment enter before the IRCTC website confirmed their ticket.
For Tatkal tickets, you will be able to pay via cash, credit cards or debit cards by choosing to have tickets Pay On Delivery at your doorstep, said IRCTC transaction company Anduril Technologies.
Pay On Delivery online ticket booking process
- The customers need to first register with payondelivery.co.in obtaining Pay On Delivery as a transaction option.
- For booking the ticket on IRCTC web portal, the customer then needs to choose the ‘pay-on-delivery’ option
- The digital delivery happens directly via SMS or email. The collection happens within 24 hours of the booking
- The customer can also pay on the online through an online web link that will be sent to them times of booking.
You will have to soft either Aadhaar or Pan cards to avail this transaction option. IRCTC procedures 130,000 tatkal transactions every day. The best part of these tickets is reserved within moments of the quota starting.
